The complex was built in 1973 and is comprised of three separate buildings with single-story condos on four floors and gated underground parking; building ‘A’ is closest to the ocean, while buildings ‘B’ and ‘C’ are a bit further back.  The condos range in size from 1,485 to 1,685 square feet in size. The floor plans offer 2-3 bedrooms, 2-3 bathrooms, underground parking, and homeowners are responsible for a monthly HOA assessment.

Reef Gate West is in a great central location close to the beach and a variety of the Central area’s finest attractions, including the San Clemente Pier and the entertainment along Avenida Del Mar.  The majority of condos in Reef Gate West have incredible ocean views, with the condos in Building A enjoying unobstructed views due to its oceanfront location.  The community is secured, as is resident and guest parking.  Reef Gate West also has a variety of nice amenities for resident use, including a community area with a pool and spa, an exercise room, a banquet room that can be rented out for events, and a game room with ping pong and pool tables.  There are ample storage lockers in the garages perfect for surfboards and beach gear, and there is also private access to the beach via stairs and/or an elevator.

Our Review

Reef Gate West serves a multitude of purposes – it can be a great primary residence, a perfect vacation getaway, or a high-income rental property due to the amazing location and community amenities.  The location is fantastic; you are centrally located and close to the beach, Pier, and main downtown area.  Pricing in this community is also very reasonable compared to the other beachfront complexes in the area; however, if you want to be in the front ‘A’ building, you will have to pay more.  The views from many of the units are fantastic, and it is easy to navigate between buildings and down to the beach due to the elevator system and various pathways and stairs.  The community areas are nice and well maintained, and the storage lockers are very convenient for those looking to keep their sandy outdoor objects out of their homes.
