With the holiday season in full season, it is time for Santa Claus to shine in Downtown San Clemente. This Saturday, December 3rd, the City of San Clemente and the Casa Romantica Cultural Center will be hosting "Santa's Village by the Sea." According to this press release, this large-scale happening will combine the "Holly Jolly Hoopla" and "Christmas at the Casa" events into a wonderful day of holiday entertainment that children and adults are sure to love. "Santa's Village by the Sea" will kick off with the Holly Jolly Hoopla from 1:00 to 5:00pm at the San Clemente Community Center (100 N. Calle Seville). The Hoopla will feature a snow hill where children may go sledding, a screening of the holiday classic "Elf," holiday cookie decorations at Mrs. Claus' Bakery, games and prize giveaways, a Candy Cane Factory, and the Mayor's annual lighting of the Christmas tree.
"Christmas at the Casa" will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and is down the road from the Community Center at 415 Avenida Granada. Families may take a stroll down Candy Cane Lane to the Casa, where they will be greeted by carolers, cookies and hot chocolate. There will be live music and beautiful holiday decorations throughout along with numerous activities and pieces of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. A special Christmas exhibit will be on display, and Santa will be on hand for children to meet; elves will also be available to help children write their Christmas lists.
Even though San Clemente is a beach city that sees no snow and few cold days, Christmas is one of the best times of the year to be a San Clemente resident or visitor. San Clemente gets into the holiday spirit better than most Orange County cities, making this a truly magical time for anyone lucky enough to participate. Happy Holidays, and enjoys "Santa's Village by the Sea"!
