Ring In The Holidays Along Avenida Del Mar
'Puttin On The Glitz' This Saturday In Downtown San Clemente

With the large amounts of Thanksgiving turkey still settling in your stomach, you may be thinking about a way to avoid the crazy malls this weekend and enjoy the true start of the holiday season. Fortunately, San Clemente's Downtown Business Association is here to help with their annual "Puttin' on the Glitz" holiday celebration. Tomorrow, from 5:00 to 9:00pm, Avenida Del Mar will be free of traffic and open to all people who would like to enjoy a fantastic holiday event that has become a staple of the season in San Clemente. "Puttin' on the Glitz," hosted by the Downtown Business Association and the City of San Clemente, is a downtown street fair with family entertainment, beautiful holiday decorations, and holiday snacks for purchase. The event will feature a variety of activities that children will love, including a bounce house, train and horse carriage rides, a Polar Express train exhibit, musical entertainment from a variety of local groups, face painters and caricature artists, and of course, Santa Claus! Santa will kick off the festivities at 5pm with his ride down Avenida Del Mar via firetruck, and he will end up at the San Clemente Community Center (100 N. Calle Seville) for family photos.
During the "Puttin' on the Glitz" event, all of the Downtown San Clemente shops and restaurants will be open for business. Any gifts purchased at the Downtown shops may be wrapped for free at a booth hosted by the Business Association that will be located on Ola Vista. For people who simply cannot wait to start their holiday shopping, this is a great way to avoid having to wrap your gifts at the last minute. Avenida Del Mar will be closed from 3-10pm, so people may park for free at San Clemente High School (700 Avenida Pico) and utilize the free shuttle service that will run from 4:30-9:30pm.
