Last week, we posted a blog ("Plans For Ralphs Expansion To Be Unveiled") detailing a public meeting being held by the San Clemente Planning Commission to consider proposed plans to renovate and re-design the Ralphs grocery store at 903 S. El Camino Real in the Southwest San Clemente area. According to this article in the OC Register, "Ralphs expansion gets OK from San Clemente panel," the commissioners unanimously approved the plans by a vote of 6-0 and were very enthusiastic about the design and the positive impact the new store will have in this part of San Clemente. It seems that the public is enthused about the new Ralphs Fresh Fare plans as there was no public debate at the meeting. Unless the plans are appealed to the San Clemente City Council or called up for further review by the council, the vote issued by the Planning Commission will stand and construction may begin.
According to the article, Ralphs hopes to begin construction on the new store this fall and complete the project for a summer 2012 opening. As we have stated repeatedly, we fully support this project and are very happy with the Planning Commission's decision. Through the unanimous vote and lack of public dissent, it appears we are not alone in our excitement for the new Ralphs Fresh Fare; this will be a great addition for residents of San Clemente along with those who visit our beautiful city.
