For the many residents of San Clemente who have tracked the ongoing development and construction of the La Pata/Vista Hermosa Sports Park and Aquatic Center, another related project is about to open its doors. Across the street from the Sports Park is a new Target shopping center, a project that came about due to left-over land from the park project and the need to raise funds for the park's development. Target Corp. purchased the land from the city and has been working on the new Target store for the past year. The store was scheduled to open a week from Sunday on October 9th, but according to an article in the Orange County Register, excited residents will get their first glimpse of the new store even sooner.
The article, "San Clemente's Target to open next Wednesday," states that Target Corp. announced today that the store will be opening four days ahead of schedule next Wednesday, October 5th. The official grand-opening celebration of the new Target will still be held on October 9th, but the store will be open for business in a week. Sandwiched between Talega and Rancho San Clemente, Target is a great and much-needed addition to the San Clemente shopping climate. With the shopping centers of Marblehead Coastal and North Beach stalled, coupled with the slow progress of revamping the Ralphs in Southwest San Clemente, Target will be a breath of fresh air to people looking for more shopping options in San Clemente. Target has a little something for everyone, and the new store, which measures around 142,000 square feet, will feature an expanded selection of grocery items along with a pharmacy, a Pizza Hut Express, a Target Cafe, and a Starbucks.
We at San Clemente Coastal Living are very excited by the addition of Target to our coastal community, and we are sure that many people feel the same way.
