If you were to ask anyone who is familiar with San Clemente its defining characteristic, most people would mention the beautiful San Clemente beaches. Long known as one of the premier coastal cities in California, San Clemente's beaches are one of the main aspects that defines this great city. With so many people utilizing San Clemente's beaches throughout the year, particularly during the crazy summer months when tourists flock to our city, the beaches can get messy. While the city does as much as it can with the numerous trash cans and constant cleanup, the bottom line is that the beaches can get dirty. Fortunately, California is fully aware of how valuable its beaches are to the popularity of our state, and the California Coastal Commission attempts to get everyone involved at least once a year to help keep our beaches clean.
Tomorrow morning, September 17th, San Clemente will be participating in the annual California Coastal Cleanup Day. According to the California Coastal Commission's website, this is the largest volunteer event in California; last year, over 82,500 people participated in the Cleanup Day throughout the state. For those interested in helping to keep San Clemente's beaches clean, please participate in San Clemente's beach cleanup day. Cleanup Day will be held from 9:00am to 12:00pm, and participants will meet just north of the San Clemente Pier in Central San Clemente to register. Gloves and bags will be provided, and all participants must fill out a waiver to join in (click on the following link for the online registration forms). Show your support of one of our city's most valuable assets by helping to keep them clean!
