Be Prepared to Conserve Water

San Clemente Residents Should Limit Water Usage During Facility Shutdown

Posted on February 18, 2011 by Matt.

The City of San Clemente has posted a press release regarding a one-week shutdown of a regional water treatment facility in Yorba Linda.  The Diemer Filtration Plant, which currently provides about 85% of San Clemente's water needs, will be shutdown from Saturday, February 26th through Sunday, March 6th.  The shutdown is required for a series of improvements and upgrades related to a new ozone treatment system.  During the shutdown, the City of San Clemente is requesting that all San Clemente residents, businesses, and Homeowners' Associations do their best to limit water usage as the City will be utilizing local water storage and groundwater supplies.

The press release contains some good water conservation tips, including the delay of landscaping projects for your San Clemente home or condo, turning off home and community sprinkler systems, and the repair of any leaks currently in your home.  Please do your part to assist in the City's efforts for the duration of the shutdown.  For more information on the Plant shutdown and water conservation tips, visit the City of San Clemente's website.
